Komische liefdesperikelen in een hedendaags jasje. Dat is wat acteurskoppels Koen De Graeve & Ariane van Vliet en Peter Van den Begin & Tine Reymer brengen, samen met de musici van Casco Phil. A Midsummer Night’s Dream is naast Romeo en Julia zowat het beroemdste werk van William Shakespeare. De basiselementen van het verhaal laten niets aan de verbeelding over: liefde op het eerste gezicht, wanhoop, overspel, jaloezie, drama, maar ook spitsvondige humor en natuurlijk verzoening.

Un immense chêne, sacrifié sur l’autel de la convoitise humaine, entrelace son destin éclatant et tragique à celui des humains. À partir du magnifique diptyque en wallon liégeois d’Henri Simon, Li Mwért di l’Åbe (1909) et Li R’vindje di l’Åbe (1926), Patrick Leterme crée une œuvre chorale et symphonique qui unit petits et grands, orchestre et chœurs, professionnels et passionnés. Sa composition mêle écriture symphonique, sons organiques et chansons inspirées du folklore, formant une partition originale qui allie tradition et modernité. Elle met en lumière notre lien au terroir tout en abordant les enjeux écologiques contemporains. Ce spectacle exceptionnel en langue régionale offre un nouveau souffle à notre patrimoine en chantant la vie, la nature et nos racines puisant dans notre terre commune.

Alice Van Leuven will be teaching the violin at the LUCA school of Arts from september 2024. Next entrance exams are on the 1st of July and on the 5th of September.

Homeland - Terre Natale - Thuisland
What links a composer to their homeland? The duo Alisil explores the feeling of belonging to a culture, to a land, to a history. Nostalgia and exuberant romantic melodies mingle with rhythmic folk dances; it's music that comes from the heart and goes straight to the heart, drawing the audience into the composer's world. An emotional journey that starts from Federico Mompou's Spain and continues to Ahmet Adnan Saygun's Turkey, passing through Bedřich Smetana's Bohemia, the Baltic region of our contemporary Pēteris Vasks, and the Balkans with Georges Enesco. The music sometimes depicts the landscape and nature of these regions, sometimes the folklore of its inhabitants. It's an immersion into each particular culture that doesn't require speaking the language, as it appeals to the universal language of music, which is simultaneously so specific to each composer.

Une belle rencontre qui remonte à l'époque où Alice s'occupait des enfants d'Amy durant le festival Résonance. au fil des ans, les deux musiciennes ont partagé leur sensibilité musicale et leur plaisir de jouer en formations de musique de chambre. Alice Van Leuven, après avoir, entre autres, fondé le Trio Ariès , lauréat Supernova 2020, a rejoint en 2021 le Quatuor Alfama dont elle est à présent 1er violon. Twice awarded the ASCAP/Chamber Music America Award for Adventurous Programming, Yellow Barn’s approach to lifelong education for musicians and audiences, commitment to quality and a unique philosophy, and programs that focus listeners in new ways, set it apart from any other chamber music center in this country.

Based in Putney, Vermont with a national agenda and an international presence, Yellow Barn draws young professional musicians from the United States, Europe, Middle East, and Asia. Under the leadership of Artistic Director Seth Knopp, participants in Yellow Barn’s summer festival explore music spanning a wide range of eras and genres alongside faculty members who are among the most highly regarded performers and pedagogues of our time. One of those faculty members spoke for the entire community when he said, “Yellow Barn is an artistic center of gravity for me.”

Wereldwijd worden kinderen gekooid in fabrieken vol bekende merken. Naaiend, stikkend, zwoegend. Voor macht en multinational. Wereldwijd dalen dagelijks kinderen af in mijnen vol snel geld. Wereldwijd vluchten kinderen van vernieling naar een andere ‘morgen’. Met een onvermoeibare veerkracht op zoek naar de vrijheid en de zelfontwikkeling waar ze recht op hebben. Kruistocht is een hedendaagse familie-opera van Johan De Smet en Frederik Neyrinck die inzoomt op kinderslavernij en migratie door kinderen. In een diverse cast van alle leeftijden, met meer dan vijftig kinderen op de scène en een muzikale alliantie tussen orkest en de Compact Disk Dummies, vinden we onder meer Marjan De Schutter, die vorig seizoen in OBV schitterde in Der Silbersee. Kruistocht is een theatrale queeste naar de rechten van het kind. Een reis door de geschiedenis over een noodzakelijke strijd die nog niet werd gewonnen.

The Alfama Quartet was established twelve years ago in Brussels and is now one of the major young chamber ensemble on the Belgian classical scene. It pursues its musical journey through different repertoires ranging from classical to contemporary music.

Lenteconcert in het Koninklijk Paleis, in aanwezigheid van de koning en koningin, weliswaar zonder publiek. Met het jeugdige trio Aries, dat bestaat uit Alice Van Leuven (viool), Paul Heyman (cello) en Wouter Valvekens (piano). Op het programma staan o.m. Dimitri Sjostakovitsj (Pianotrio nr. 1), Felix Mendelssohn (Pianotrio nr. 2) en Astor Piazolla (De Lente). Uitzonderlijk is de bijdrage van de Koninklijke Balletschool van Antwerpen, die op verschillende locaties in het Paleis choreografieën uitvoert op de muziek van het trio Aries. De choreografie is in handen van Kevin Durwael en Eva Moreno.
