Duo ALISIL - Terre Natale/Thuisland/Homeland
Alice Van Leuven - violin Işıl Bengi - piano Terre Natale/Thuisland/Homeland What links a composer to their homeland? The duo Alisil explores the feeling of belonging to a culture, to a land, to a history. Nostalgia and exuberant romantic melodies mingle with rhythmic folk dances; it's music that comes from the heart and goes straight to the heart, drawing the audience into the composer's world. An emotional journey that starts from Federico Mompou's Spain and continues to Ahmet Adnan Saygun's Turkey, passing through Bedřich Smetana's Bohemia, the Baltic region of our contemporary Pēteris Vasks, and the Balkans with Georges Enesco. The music sometimes depicts the landscape and nature of these regions, sometimes the folklore of its inhabitants. It's an immersion into each particular culture that doesn't require speaking the language, as it appeals to the universal language of music, which is simultaneously so specific to each composer. F. Mompou - Pastoral (issu de Deux Mélodies), Lento B. Smetana - Z Domoviny (From de Homeland) A. A. Saygun - Demet Suite op. 33 C. Franck - Mélancolie P. Vasks - Mazā vasaras mūzika (Little Summer Music) G. Enesco - Troisième sonate pour violon et piano op. 25 Contact: alicevanleuven@hotmail.com
